Tribal Council Voting Episode 12
Find out what each member of
the Libertad tribe said as they cast their votes for the
fourteenth person voted off Survivor Nicaragua
Dan (Fabio): <says
nothing>
Jane ("Benrey"):
Ben, you're not who I really wanted out tonight, but I have to
go with my alliance, and they thought you were the biggest
threat. Just so you know, you were not my choice tonight.
Fabio (Holly): Time for
you to go. Sorry.
Chase (Benry): Nothing
personal at all. I love you to death and I hope we can spend
some time together after the game.
Benry (Fabio): You can
thank your boy Sash for this one. He's the one that had to
break us up, man.
Holly (Ben): We need to
keep our alliance strong, and you're just too big of a
physical threat.
Sash (Ben): One of the
best overall players still in the game. A huge physical
threat. I'm sorry to see you go home.
Secret Scene: Benry
Benry suspects Jane of stealing
food
<night 29>
Jane (voiceover as Jane
sits in front of the fire): I am going to secretly cook me an
egg tonight after everybody goes to bed. (Jane goes over to the
coop) I've given the chicken part of my rice twice a day, OK?
I've been letting it eat my rice and sharing my food with it.
I've been going without food just so she can lay an egg. Nobody
else shares their food with that chicken. They could care less
if that chicken gets anything to eat. The way I look at it, that
egg oughta be mine. (Throughout this, Jane finds the egg, cleans
it off, and begins cooking it, with a grin on her face)
Jane (solo): I waited
until everybody went to bed, poured some water into the pot, got
a nice little fire going, had it so it wasn't real big, and
about the time I'm about to take that egg off, Benry wakes up!
Benry: What's that pot
out there for?
Jane: I leave a pot out
here in case I have to move this fire.
Benry: Oh, OK.
Jane: It looks like it's
gonna be raining. I didn't want to have to find it.
Benry: The fire's pretty
hot.
Jane: Well, I'm just
letting it smolder a little bit right now.
Benry: Let it smolder?
Jane: Yeah, while people
were asleep.
Benry (voiceover): I just
woke up. Jane's huddled around the fire. There's a pot on the
fire. (Benry shakes his head to the camera) Something tells me
she's cooking food. I'm not sure what she's up to but something
mischievous, I would think. Jane proceeded to tell me she was
going to head down to the beach and watch the lightning storm,
so I continued to investigate a little bit. I put on my Sherlock
Holmes hat, and became Sherlock Benry.
<Jane walks out to the beach, holds up the egg to the camera,
and grins>
Benry (voiceover as he
investigates the camp): I reached down, I put my finger in the
pot. There was definitely something that had just been cooked in
the pot. There was no doubt in my mind that Jane was sneakily
doing something behind our backs, cooking up some food, when in
all reality I don't understand why she couldn't have asked.
We've got this old lady at camp stealing food and the whole
situation is extremely bizarre. I wonder how long has she been
doing that.
<Jane eats the egg>
Benry's Final Words
Benry reacts to having just
been voted out of the game.
"I'm extremely surprised. I just got straight blindsided.
Not what I was expecting coming into this Tribal Council. But
that's the way the cookie crumbles, and I guess the other 6
remaining members see me as a threat, and I guess I should take
that somewhat as a compliment."
(cut)
"I can't even really fathom what happened right now. I
thought we had a very solid plan going into this. I definitely
thought I trusted some people. It was obviously my fault to
begin trusting them. I have a feeling Sash had a big part in
this. Chase obviously as well. They saw me as a threat and I
think that's what happened."
(cut)
"I'm not sure who Dan voted, ended up voting, but I was
counting on Dan to at least tell me what's up if my name was on
the chopping block. I was counting on Chase - I've been playing
this game with him since day 1, been in this game with him for
32 days, thought we had a mutual understanding, thought he was
my boy. Definitely somebody I thought would come to me and at
least let me know, 'They're talking about sending you home,' or,
'Hey, you're going home tonight.' I would have much rather have
known as opposed to feeling pretty stupid and being completely
blindsided."
(cut)
"Sash has been shifty this entire game. I could never
really put a finger on the kid. He's definitely swung back and
forth between alliances and told lies and burned bridges this
entire game. But that's the way the game works, and I guess he's
playing a good game. He's in a damn good boat right now with the
hidden immunity idol, still, and he won individual immunity at
the challenge, which was unfortunate, because I would still be
in this game if I'd figured out that puzzle."
(cut)
"I voted for Fabio because I thought that was a mutual
consensus, and I wanted to further myself at least another night
in this game and go ahead and figure out another alliance after
that. I felt I could really trust Holly and really trust Chase,
and those were the two people I could go to after voting out
Fabio in terms of setting up a new alliance for myself. That's
obviously not the way it happened, and somebody informed Fabio
of me wanting to vote for him, and it was switched back around
on me."
(cut)
"Probably the #1 reason I'm out of here is because I'm a
physical threat. There's no doubt in my mind I could have won
individual immunity and won my way and furthered my way to top
3, if not top 4. I think they all saw that. I take it as a
compliment. It's not a bad thing. It's whatever. It's
unfortunate that I was straight blindsided tonight and didn't
see it coming, but that's absolutely 100% the reason. They all
saw me as a huge threat. I've been to the finals in basically
every challenge, I've won challenges, I've been putting Ws on
the board for all my tribes since the beginning of this game.
They've seen it day in and day out, my competitive nature and my
winning attitude. They're all threatened by it. That's what
happened."
(cut)
"I'm extremely proud of myself that I was in this game for
32 days. I learned more about myself in these 32 days than I
ever would have thought. This game is amazing, way above and
beyond what I expected. I can't even really fathom what I went
through these last 32 days. It's changed me as a person and made
me grow into a better man. I'm really excited to further my life
with these opportunities given to me these last 32 days."
Benry the Day After
Benry reflects on his time in the game the day after he was
voted out.
"My
Survivor experience was above and beyond anything I expected
going into it. It really taught me a lot about life and myself
and trust and people in general. I really think it's changed me
and evolved me into a better person. I look at the whole
experience as a revelation. It was very surreal, and it makes
you realize the simplest things in life give you the greatest
pleasure. How much you take for granted - I'm sure everybody
says - you can watch the show season after season and every
single episode and still not have an understanding of what
you're getting yourself into, or even what you're about to go
through. It was insane, to say the least, and I don't regret a
minute of it."
(cut)
"They were smart to get rid of me, there's no doubt in my
mind I could have won individual immunity the next 3, 4, however
many challenges, and taken myself to the top 3 by winning
immunity. Unless there were puzzles involved - my brain was so
mentally drained after 32 days with minimal sleep, minimal food,
basically functioning and operating on a few shells full of rice
a day, and relying on water to give me energy."
(cut)
"I was blindsided. I had 7 days left in the game. I
definitely had 7 days left in me."
(cut)
"I think my biggest problem, what got me in trouble, was
having so much faith in trust in people and there's only 7
people left in the game. I was very content in where I was when
I really probably shouldn't have been."
(cut)
"I put a little too much faith in Sash and trusted him more
than I should have. Even Holly and Chase. 2 people who I really
trusted in this game. Chase I played all 32 days of the game
with. I really trusted him. We had had numerous conversations
about only writing each other's names down if it was for the
million dollars."
(cut)
"I'm excited to just go back and give Mom and Dad a big hug
and say thank you for everything you've ever done for me. I
wouldn't be here and wouldn't be in this position if it wasn't
for them. That was another thing I realized. I think they'll
definitely see a change in me. Not only my family, but my
friends and people I work with and people I live with. It was a
month-long mental life rehab. I've never felt more clear in my
entire life."
(cut)
"Talking to God was probably the best part of the game for
me. Spending alone time, watching the sunsets. Some of the
sunsets were the most insane things I've ever seen. Spending
alone time, I guess, and really assessing my life and thinking
about what I'm doing and why I'm doing it. I turned 24 years old
out here and it couldn't have come at a better time in my
life."
(cut)
"It's been far and away the hardest thing mentally,
physically, I've ever been through. I feel like I can accomplish
anything now, I can do anything. There's nothing holding me back
in life at all. I'm excited to go out there and get it."
Best Position Possible
Fabio is excited about having
the time to strategize with Sash, Benry and Dan while the others
are on reward
"The
reward challenge was a good one. Of course we had to get money.
All 3 of them were done from previous challenges, done in a
little bit different ways, so we all had experience. I did not
do good. The one with the shield, the bouncy ball thing, I got
out in the very first round, which is fine. I was hoping that
Benry was gonna go to the end, which he did, he just lost to
Chase. Either way, we got all muddy and we lost but the 4 of us
ended back at camp. Chase made a mistake again by taking Jane
and Holly, thinking with his heart, not his head. (points at his
head)"
(cut)
"That's not a smart move because it shows where his
allegiance is, for sure, those 3 are tight. It leaves all of us
4 back at camp, the bigger number of people, to form a solid
alliance and a game plan. Sash was the swing vote, he could have
left one of the girls at camp to make sure we didn't talk, taken
Sash and figured out something really cool, but he didn't."
(cut)
"Even when Chase chose the 2 people after the reward, he
said, I did something crazy early in the game with the 2 girls.
I'm going to do this to kind of make up for it, and take 'em.
You just did the same thing again. You made the same mistake,
dude. So as far as we're concerned, we're gonna eat the chicken,
we'll have some rice, we'll be happy. Hopefully we'll figure out
a solid game plan to get us 4 to the end of the game. I'm happy,
still. I'm pretty excited on how the day turned out."
(cut)
"As far as I'm concerned, Chase helped my game and shot
himself in the foot because now Dan definitely wants to get rid
of him. Benry...we're all not stoked on him [Chase] right now. I
have a good relationship with Chase so I feel like I can still
play with him when they get back, I can reason with him and talk
to him and act like we're not all necessarily out to get him. It
just depends on how we want to work our angles. As far as I'm
concerned I'm with the 3 smartest players - Sash, Dan, Benry and
myself. We're gonna be able to think about how to manipulate
those 3 and what the best way is, and we have time to figure it
out. I don't think those 3 are really gonna be able to work
their game on us. I think we're in the best position possible
right now."
It's Screwed Up
Dan is confused with Chase's
logic in taking Jane and Holly on the reward
"It's really screwed up, what's going on there. I don't
know what Chase is doing. Everybody knows he can't go to the
finals with Jane, because Jane'll beat him, because Jane has the
right story. They're gonna give it to Jane. However old she is,
50-some years old, she just lost her husband, she has a chicken
farm, she raises dogs for a pedigree show. She's had a tough,
tough life. You know she's gonna win it hands down. He's
cajoling them, he's with them -- Chase can't go with Holly
because she can win that too. Here's a girl from South Dakota,
population of..."
(cut)
"1,100 people in her town, so she's gonna win it. Meanwhile
he keeps dragging them along. He doesn't want to vote them out,
but he says, 'I know I've got to vote them out.' I don't know
what you're waiting for. Times are near. And that's it. I
haven't really spoken to him in a while. He had always said, 'Oh
Dan, I have a plan for you and I.' So today I'm gonna approach
him and ask whatever happened to the plan and do we still have
the plan in place. Everybody seems to think they're better off
going to the finals with me, because nobody's gonna give me the
award. They figure with me they got a 50-50 -- the other way
they got a 1-in-3. The odds are in their favor. Whether that
really works for me, I guess we'll find out."
My First Massage
Jane reveals that she had never
had a massage before the one she got on the resort reward.
"To
our surprise, they walked us out and we're each gonna get a
massage by our own personal masseuse. That was the first massage
I've ever had."
(cut)
"I have never had the luxury of spending money on something
like that. I don't know what it costs for a massage, but my
money goes to pay groceries and pay bills, for right now. That's
just a luxury I have never spent money on. They kept asking me,
'If you win a million dollars, will you get another massage?'
Probably not. Maybe. That's just so far in the future. I don't
even think that way right now. My goal is to get to the final 6
and then get to the final 4. We'll try to work something out
from there."
(cut)
"First massage - first of all she wanted us to lay down on
the table, then she was stripping us. We were butt naked under
the robe. No underwear, no bras, no panties, nothing. It was out
on the beach, right by the ocean. You could hear the ocean, the
breeze was flowing. It quit raining, thank goodness. It was a
little chilly, and I told her I was a little cold, so she kind
of wrapped me up in a towel. She was like, peeling my robe off.
I looked at Holly and she was like, 'Jane, this is the life.'
I'm like, Holly, you better cover up girl, you can see. She
[Holly] was like, 'Just relax, just relax.' She [the masseuse]
started rubbing some kind of oil on me. I said, my God, doesn't
that hurt her hands? How long does this last? They said about an
hour. I was amazed she could stand there and do that for an hour
with her hands. She was rubbing oil all over your shoulders, all
down your neck, all down your back, all down the middle part of
your back, then she started working on your legs, down to your
feet. Then she did your arms. Then she went back up to your head
and your neck. I almost fell asleep, it was so soothing and
relaxing. I mean, Don's given me a massage before, when he was
alive, but other than that, no, I've never had a professional
massage."
(cut)
"Oh, it was like heaven. You were drifting sometimes in a
little peaceful sleep. Yeah, it was great. I never dozed off
completely. I was a little tense at first. Holly kept saying,
'Relax, Jane, relax, Jane, she's gonna be touching you all
over.' I'm like, OK. (laughs)"
Chicken Feast
Benry has no regret about
killing the chicken and eating it
"The
chicken was amazing. We had a nice little feast last night of
our own."
(cut)
"Holly, Jane and Chase got to have an overnight at a
resort, order off a menu, have a resort-style dinner, get a
comfy bed and a shower. We had a hot meal of our own. I would
say I probably had a big part in deciding we were gonna cook the
chicken regardless of those 3 not being here."
(cut)
"There was no remorse this time. I was ready to eat, and
knowing they were in a resort, hot meal, hot shower, hot bed, I
wanted a hot meal of my own, especially coming that close in the
challenge yesterday and not coming through with a win. I was
pretty upset. I decided to go ahead and kill the chicken, pluck
it, gut it, and cook it."
(cut)
"That was my first time ever doing that. First time ever
killing a chicken, plucking a chicken, gutting a chicken, first
time ever cooking a chicken. The guys said I did a good job.
Fabio and Sash were pretty impressed. It was good eats. I
impressed myself, actually. There's a first time for everything.
I never, ever thought I'd be out here killing a chicken, and
scraping every last piece of meat off every bone with my teeth.
I never would have thought it would come down to that, but it
was fun, man. It was a learning experience. I wouldn't hesitate
to do it again."
Awesome Time
Chase describes the once in a
lifetime resort reward that he won at the challenge.
"Reward was the best yet. It was an unbelievable, truly
once in a lifetime experience. We had this huge resort all to
ourselves. We get there, we see 3 massage tables. That was a
surprise, we didn't know we were getting massages. It really was
a once in a lifetime experience. Before we shower, we get some
fruit, the best pineapple we'd all ever had. Get a little bit of
drink with it, had a little bit of rum in it -- that was nice.
We all got to shower. First shower in 30-something days, that
was nice, especially with the mud all over us. Once we showered,
we got robes. It felt normal. We felt normal for the first time
in 30 days, which is a piece of mind out here. We had toilets,
that was cool. We saw a bed we got to sleep in. Then we go
through all that, finish the fruit, and they take us to get a
massage. We got a massage for about an hour. Best massage of my
life. I've had massages before but this one tops 'em all. We're
sitting in Nicaragua, two great ladies I've become close to in
this game, and we're sitting on the ocean, Pacific Ocean,
getting a massage. It gives you a chance to kind of get your
mind off the game, knowing your body's feeling good, you're
getting your massage. It felt unbelievable. My body hadn't felt
that good in 30-something days. It's an unbelievable
experience."
(cut)
"It's amazing to feel something like that because it allows
you to get out of the game. You're at a resort. No matter what I
was thinking about the dumb decision, I couldn't help but take
myself out of the game for a minute and relax. The game's always
going, your mind's always racing. Any time you get a chance to
relax out here, it's amazing. It's also a once in a lifetime
deal to get out there and be able to experience that and get
your mind off the game."
(cut)
"In spite of the fact that I wish Sash would have been
there, for strategic reasons, I had a great time with Jane and
Holly. They're 2 great women and I'm sure we'll be friends for
the rest of our lives. I had an awesome time. I was so happy for
Holly."
(cut)
"Jane's never experienced anything like that in her life so
I was happy bringing them along. We had an awesome time
together."
(cut)
"First time I got to look at myself in the mirror for 30
days. I was shocked. I'd never seen myself with a beard like
this before. Mostly I was shocked at how skinny my face was. I
could see my ribs. I could see my spine. My face is extremely
skinny. I looked at myself like, who the hell is this guy in the
mirror?"
31 Days
Dan describes his surprise at
getting to day 31 on Survivor.
"Day
31."
<Dan carves into a tree>
<cut>
"I'm up to day 31. That's where we are. Now it's gonna get
even more interesting. Lotta days, 31 days, to be living like
this. I don't normally live like this. I guess most people don't
normally live like this. Probably if you're normal you don't
wanna live like this. Signed up for it, so gotta do it. Can't
quit."
(cut)
"I live a pretty plush, lavish life in New York City. To be
living like this here for 31 days, there's gonna be a lotta
people in New York who can't believe it. There's gonna be a
lotta people watching this on television saying, 'That can't be
Dan, no way that's Dan.' I'm gonna be watching it saying, 'No
way that's Dan.'"
(cut)
"So that's it. 31 days."
Chase Messed Up Again
The boys not
chosen by Chase to go on the reward plot against him.
Dan:
I want him to regret picking those women.
Benry:
He will.
Fabio:
We need to split them up.
Dan
(mocking voice): "I'll pick the girls because the girls
have been with me." <expletive> you, it's gonna bite
you right in the ass.
Fabio:
He said last time I did something crazy with the whole girls
versus guys thing, and this time I'm gonna try to make up for
it. You just did the same thing AGAIN, bro.
Sash:
Crossed all his boys 3 times. (?)
Dan:
Not only that, he sees the numbers. There's 4 of us here.
Sash:
4 guys, and 3 ladies.
Benry:
So we're telling Chase that we're voting Jane. All of us.
Dan:
You think he'll give her the idol?
Benry:
If he does, he goes home. Us 4 putting Chase down.
Benry
(solo): Sash mentioned that he's basically the seventh wheel.
He's the fourth person that could go in either alliance. I think
the alliances were pretty defined today. We could really use
Sash to our advantage in this game.
Fabio:
Have to be so cool, man.
Benry:
Sash, you're the man.
Benry
(voiceover): He said he's done with the BS.
Sash:
I don't wanna bulls*** people anymore.
Benry:
This is definitely beneficial to you. This is definitely your
route. Smart on your end.
Sash:
We have to see how the immunity challenge plays out.
Benry:
We can't let him win immunity.
Benry
(solo): If Sash were smart, he'd make the right decision, jump
on board with us, and take himself a lot further in this game.
Dumb Decision
Benry regrets
losing the reward challenge and bashes Chase for taking the
women on the reward.
"I was close. Close but no cigar.
It was frustrating, man. I love to win. Going in there, I felt
like I had a significant upper hand. I felt like I was in a
position to dominate. Chase upped his game a little bit. I had a
feeling it was gonna be us 2 at the end, and it was. He was able
to dig up those rings a little quicker and get them on the
board. Unfortunately, I didn't walk away with a win today, which
is extremely frustrating. I don't take losing very well. It
sucks to lose. The reward was bananas. A resort, overnight. A
resort dinner, a shower, a bed. It sounded pretty amazing. At
the same time, I'm here to play this game, and I feel like that
would be a huge tease. We've got 9 days left, we've been out
here 30 days, and to go shower up and get a sleep in a comfy bed
and spend a night at a resort for one night seems like a big
tease to me. That's the way I look at it, that's the way I think
about it, that's what happened. I didn't get the reward, I'm not
gonna complain about it. I'm pushing. I'm gonna get dirty for 9
more days. After that I'll be able to sleep in a comfy bed, eat
a nice dinner, and be able to do those things they're able to
do."
(cut)
"I thought Chase couldn't have made
a dumber decision in this game if he hadn't already. The kid is
constantly thinking with his heart. He's been playing with his
heart from day 1. He made a poor decision leaving us 4 guys
behind, me knowing that he has an idol, leaving me behind. I
don't think he made the brightest decision. At the same time, he
left 4 city boys behind. Jane is from..."
(cut)
"Jane is from a small farm town, I
guarantee she's never done something like this. Holly's in the
same boat. She lives in South Dakota, on a farm. Respectable,
his decision, a part of me respects his decision to take the 2
older ladies, especially after Holly giving up her reward for
rice and a tarp for the tribe was huge. I respect his decision.
I live in Hollywood, California. I live an extremely cush
lifestyle. I was resort-hopping prior to coming here. It's part
of my everyday life. It's nothing I'm seriously missing out on.
I respect his decision. I'm happy for those 2 ladies to go
partake in a reward like this. Hopefully they get all clean and
relax a little bit, because they're gonna need it. It's gonna be
a tough rest of this game."
(cut)
"By Chase picking Jane and Holly to
go on the reward, he left me an extreme strategic advantage, to
sit back at camp, talk to Sash, Fabio and Dan a little bit. I
think he really made a poor decision. I think it's going to come
back to haunt him and bite him right in his ass."
