Benjamin Wade is known by many names. As the head women's soccer coach at the Southwest Baptist University in Missouri, he is called "Coach Wade," but he also goes by “Maestro” due to role as an artistic director and conductor of a California symphony orchestra. A skilled musician, Benjamin was traveling the world playing the trumpet before most kids could even spell "trumpet."

Wade sees coaching as another form of manipulation. "You have to find out what everybody wants, what everybody needs, what they think they want, what think they need and then you have to be the person that solves everything." He knows these skills will be valuable in the game of SURVIVOR.

If Benjamin was asked to wear just one hat, it would be that of "Renaissance Man." Aside from setting the world record for the longest solo kayak expedition on the ocean (an amazing 6,132 miles), Wade has also been attacked by a tiger shark, stalked by a jaguar in the Amazon and has been bitten by a piranha on his right hand. To say that he is a Type A, Alpha male, who likes to control the environment around him may just be an understatement. Coach's dominant personality will be a force to be reckoned with in the game.

Benjamin is single and currently splits his time in Bolivar, Mo, and Susanville, Calif. His birth date is September

Jeff Probst: Hands down one of the most fascinating guys that's been on the show. He is so full of himself. And he's full of himself like Richard Hatch was. He wants to take the best to the end. And he believes he's one of the best...and there are 3 others. And he's gonna get 'em together and we're gonna run this game and we'll duke it out. I wouldn't want my sister to date him...but I love him on Survivor.

The reason I decided to try out for Survivor was first of all the million dollars and on top of that I felt like I would be perfect for it. I mean physically I'm a competitor...I'm smart enough I feel and yeah I'm good with people. So I don't mind roughing it for a million dollars. Strategically I'm going to try and win friends over. For the most part just be funny and be approachable. And yeah go from there...gauge people's reactions to me. I'm kind of one of those guys that some people, maybe the more sensitive ones, don't really like me at first because I'm straight forward and can push people's buttons just to test them. So that'll be interesting to see.

My missionary experience in the Philippines...I think it affected me in a way where I can deal with diverse cultures, food, language. I adapted really easily actually I didn't ever get homesick. I mean a lot of the other missionaries were crying at nights and I never understood it. I think in that way it's helped. The extreme heat there was probably similar to what it's gonna be here. And so I think it's benefited me a lot.

I don't have a problem lying or cheating I think that's part of the game. And I think the other contestants understand that as well. The worst part of my personality is probably my arrogance. I think a lot of times I can come off as charmingly arrogant. but to others they just take it as straight flat out arrogance and that can be offensive to some.

I think the conditions of the game with the lack of food and the weather and stuff is going to affect everybody. It's gonna put everybody probably in...yeah they'll probably be moody or temperamental. I think it won't affect me as much as some of the others. I've experienced a lot of bad weather and I've gone a lot without eating. As a cyclist we try and maintain minimal weight and I'm 15 pounds over what I was. So I have some to lose I think it won't be a huge deal for me. My athletic background will be an advantage in that I'll have the endurance and the strength to perform in the physical challenges as well as just endure throughout the game in its entirety.

My favorite Survivor...I don't know if he's my favorite but probably the one that I think played a good game is Jonny Fairplay. I don't think I'd ...I mean I don't have pictures of him on my wall or on my ceiling when I go to bed or anything. But I think him creating multiple alliances and doing that was really smart. But I think also that physically I'm stronger than him and I'm better looking so I have two advantages to him. I'm gonna reign supreme at the end because I'm the complete package. I'm good with people, I'm physical, I'm smart and in all those aspects I'm not too overbearing. I see the overbearing ones, the muscle guys they are perceived as too physically strong and are gone. The super smart ones, it's the same thing. And I think with the combination of a few things is definitely a better advantage.
