HANNAH
: On "Survivor: Fiji" Thursday, the hard-luck Ravu
tribe had to vote out another member, so Lisi volunteered to go.
Then she put up a fight a stay.
(clips)
HANNAH
: Lisi . Good morning. Did you want to go?
LISI
: Yeah! (fervently nods her head) Uh-huh.
HANNAH
: Cause you'd told everybody, "I think I'm outta
here." Why did you reach that point?
LISI
: You start getting exhausted. You start thinking to yourself,
"Why am I doing this?" Then you realize you don't have
to." Straight up.
HANNAH
: Why did you want to do it in the first place, and then what
changed?
LISI
: I did it for Andy Warhol. That sounds kind of funny, but it's
true.
HANNAH
: Just the brief fame? 15 minutes fame?
LISI
: Well, um, not so much that as putting myself in the test, so
to speak. Let's see what I can do under these circumstances. A
challenge is always a test of your strength, your character. So
what the hey? I just went for it.
HANNAH
: How tough is it for a girl who wears sparkly boots like this -
look at you, you're totally funky, you're totally fun - and then
you go and live on an island. You wore these up until the very
last minute, right?
LISI
: Yeah, I had to hold onto my glamour until I just couldn't
anymore.
HANNAH
: Right. You're giving up all that, you're roughing it, and
after you switch tribes you're sleeping on palm fronds and you
don't have a lot of food.
LISI
: Nice, right?
HANNAH
: Did that really change the way you played the game or change
your attitude?
LISI
: I'll tell you, I was so fortunate I was on Moto for as long as
I was, cause it really sheltered me from the reality of the
show. I was kind of coasting, this is cute, this is not so
Survivor-ish, then all the sudden when it got really boogie, I
was like, "No, not...now I wanna go."
HANNAH
(laughs): "When it got really boogie." When you got to
Exile Island, that must be a horrible experience. I guess you
visited more than you wanted to. (sees a clip) Look you got
caught in the storm. Was that the low point for you?
LISI
: That was terrible. The best thing about that storm was I got
water. I was so petrified of the snakes, I wasn't leaving that
tower.
HANNAH
: Oh, my gosh.
LISI
: The storm came and I was like, "Ooh, water."
HANNAH
: A lot of crazy things happened with your allies. You were
actually - I don't know if you were really asleep or pretending
to be asleep, but they were digging up the immunity idol right
by your feet. Did you know what they were doing, cause they
played like they hadn't been there?
LISI
: That's actually kind of funny, cause I told them where to dig.
It's like, "OK boys, now do it." Yeah, I heard them
digging, how sound asleep can you be on a palm frond? I
literally waited for them to finish until I could wake up.
HANNAH
: So you were just messing with them, acting like you didn't
know what they'd done. You called them losers.
LISI
: They kind of were.
HANNAH
: Aww.
LISI
: All this muscle, and for what?
HANNAH
: Let's see the Secret Scene.
[
LISI
makes chicken noises around camp, as
MOOKIE
says she's annoying and he can't wait until the camp is back to
being all men]
HANNAH
: What's up with the noises?
LISI
: (makes a chicken noise) For me it's kind of a tension-breaker.
I've been clucking for a long time. When I saw that Mookie was
really getting irritated, I was like, "Ooh, green light!
Now let's really cluck." He would just get insanely nuts. I
was like, "Tune it out, dude. Why are you tripping cause
I'm clucking?"
HANNAH
: It sounds like you guys all got under each other's skin. Is
there anything good that came out of it? Did you take anything
positive away?
LISI
: A lot.
HANNAH
: Good.
LISI
: If you're going to weigh the negatives with the positives,
there's hardly any negative. It was a great experience.
HANNAH
: That's good to hear. Lisi Linares, nice to meet you. Best of
luck in the future.
LISI
(shakes Hannah's hand): It was really good to do it.
HANNAH
: Clucker. (Lisi laughs)
